Hi, I’m Jenna.
I’m currently sitting on my bathroom floor, overwhelmed. Why? Because I’m moving to Texas in three weeks. My boyfriend, Joe, got accepted into a PhD program, and while I’m so proud of him, the suddenness of this move has me reeling.
I grew up in Chicago. My friends, my work, my life—everything is here. I imagined building our life together here too. But how do you say no to a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity like a PhD program? So, Texas, here we come.
Here’s the kicker: finding an apartment has been a nightmare. We don’t know the area, we’re unsure of what’s safe, and to top it off, our real estate agent ghosted us. I work from home, running my own graphic design business, so I need a place that’s not only functional but also doesn’t make me feel isolated.
I know I’m not the only one in this situation—scared but doing it anyway. That’s why I’ve decided to share my journey. Maybe it will help someone else navigate a chaotic move. Maybe it will help me feel less alone. Either way, I’m determined to make the best of this.
So, follow along as I navigate the chaos. Who knows? Maybe we’ll figure out how to turn this challenge into something beautiful.
